"Satan In The Smoke" Signed Numbered 911 Twin Towers World Trade Center AP Photo hand signed and numbered 26/100. Okay this is a weird one and it's also incredibly rare as only 100 were made and hand signed by the associate press photographer, Mark D. I reached out to him early after 911 happened and I ended up with one of the 100 that he made available soon after the tragedy. There are different versions to the story out there and those versions have changed over time.
There is the matter of fact story - he just took the photo when he did and it is what it is. There's there's the pareidolia explanation and it's just our brains assigning meaning by creating an image from the smoke.Then there's the Christian side where the image is undoubtedly Satan and the entire tragedy just typified evil in a modern world. And I could go on and on. I was blown away when I saw it.
I have 26/100 custom framed in UV glass. And I'm gonna go with - it is what it is. The photograph is guaranteed authentic- you could always call and ask.He kept a pretty tight record of where they all went. And it's not even a great photograph until we explore the subject matter and the obvious focal point. Certainly no Ansel Adams stuff here.
The image is 12"x20". Framed, it is 20"x25" give ot take a 16th or whatever as it's custom. I guess just ask any and all questions. It's been in storage for 15 years easy and the frame has a few very small marks. Probably nothing a black sharpie can't fix but I have to mention them and they are pictured.
